The Mid-Currituck Bridge: It Ain't Over Til It's Over

Mid-Currituck Bridge

This a sample of what we could be seeing in a few short years. Much to the surprise of many locals the Final Enviromental Impact Study for the Mid-Currituck Bridge was released last month and everything still seems to be a go. The FEIS which was do out last September arrived about 4 months late, but it arrived just the same.

The next step for the soon to be 7 miles bridge across the sound is the "Record of Decision" scheduled to happen some time between April & June. From there actual construction should begin before this year is over.

There are still many here in Corolla & Carova on the Outer Banks that feel the bridge will never happen. Still everyone can agree that this is by far the closest it has ever come.

To read more about the bridge's progress you can go the the NCDOT website
